In 1970, the big winner at the Oscars was Patton. The movie was named Best Picture, it’s director Franklin J. Schaffner and star George C. Scott won the Academy honors. Scott, however, said “No, thanks” to the statuette.
Glenda Jackson was named Best Actress for Women in Love. John Mills won Best Supporting Actor for Ryan’s Daughter and Helen Hayes took home the Best Supporting Actress award for Airport.
